York University Collaboration
“Toward Generating a New Cloud-Based Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) Dataset and Cloud Intrusion Traffic Characterization” was published in the journal MDPI Information and is the result of collaborative efforts between York University in Toronto and cPacket.
The article addresses the threat of distributed denial of services (DDoS) attacks to network security and the challenges in detecting them in real-time with minimal computation overhead while highlighting the importance of well-constructed datasets for effective detection methods, particularly in cloud networks. The research analyzes existing datasets, identifies shortcomings, and introduces anew public dataset called BCCC-cPacket-Cloud-DDoS-2024.
