A Look Back at cPacket’s 2024 – Year in Review
By: Trey Moczygemba and Iain Kenney
In 2024, network observability took center stage as organizations faced increasing demands for performance, reliability, and security across complex, distributed systems. The rapid adoption of hybrid and multi-cloud environments, coupled with a continuously increasing proliferation of AI/ML enabled architectures, edge networks and network appliances, continues to push and re-define the expectations for a resilient network observability solution. Network Observability continues to evolve from a reactive toolset and approach to a proactive, AI-driven set of capabilities which are paramount to managing and maintaining seamless NetOps and SecOps operations.
cPacket continues to outpace the competition with the most robust packet brokers and packet capture appliances in the market, spanning hybrid, public & private cloud topologies. With cPacket’s focus on Packets, Precision, and Performance, cPacket delivers an unrivaled portfolio of products, which took many leaps forward in 2024 and continued momentum going into 2025. This blog will provide an overview of some of the exciting new milestones cPacket conquered in 2024, with a taste of more exciting things to come in 2025.
Industry’s First Sustained 200Gbps Packet Capture Appliance
cPacket announced the release of the new flagship Packet Capture & Analytics appliance, the cStor 200S. By bringing the industry’s first sustained 200Gbps appliance to market, cPacket is able to deliver real-time analytics to customers taking advantage of 200G infrastructure.
And it’s just not about the spec sheet! With all this network performance comes even more packet data arriving faster and faster. So, as a network ops or security ops leader, you need to capture and process network telemetry faster than ever before.
You need to be able to take ALL the data (not just some of the data) and process it via a user-friendly dashboard to allow you to build a clear understanding of what is happening which will enable you and your team to make the right decisions! Conversely, if you don’t use all the data then you may be misled by the data you see resulting in the wrong decision or misled assumption.
400G Packet Broker? Check!
cPacket was thrilled to announce the cVu 32400G Aggregation Packet Broker in 2024, delivering our first 400G Packet Broker to the market. The 32400AG has 32 network interfaces supporting 10,25,40,100 and 400G network connectivity.
The cVu 32400AG offers microburst detection capabilities and allows NetOps teams to detect and address network congestion issues in real-time, ensuring the reliability and performance of mission-critical applications. For instance, applications requiring high performance and low latency, such as high-frequency trading and AI processing, often encounter millisecond bursts that impact immediate operations and are critical considerations for future network capacity planning and AI compute efficiency.
The cVu 32400AG expands on the AG product line to include 400G support, allowing customers to enable packet brokering at line-rate with high port density in a small footprint. This is the first product in the cPacket portfolio to support 400G, helping to round out cPacket’s portfolio with network observability solutions that are both efficient and future-proof.
Packet Access Anytime, Anywhere for Hybrid Multicloud Deployments
2024 was a big year for cPacket’s Cloud Suite – bringing cPacket’s strengths – packet brokers, packet capture, analytics and simplified management – to public and private cloud environments, including Microsoft Azure, AWS, Google Cloud and VMware.
First and foremost, 2024 included the release of ALL cPacket Cloud products – cVu-V, cStor-V, and cClear-V – in the Azure and AWS Marketplaces. Marketplace access brings a plethora of benefits to cPacket Cloud users, including simplified image distribution, procurement through the Marketplaces, automated software upgrade notifications, point-and-click deployment along with user-friendly documentation, and hardened security and reliability by being approved by Azure and AWS vetting processes. To learn more about our Marketplace listings, check out our Azure Marketplace listings and our AWS Marketplace listings. Also, feel free to view our cStor-V Azure Deployment video and our cClear-V Azure Deployment video to learn how easy it is to deploy our virtual appliances in minutes.
In addition to our releases on the Marketplaces, 2024 brought a whole host of other improvements to our Cloud Suite, including all of the capabilities of our cStor S platform via our cStor-V virtual appliance, new Terraform deployment tools for infrastructure-as-code based deployments, enhanced autoscaling support for Azure Virtual Machine Scale Sets (VMSS) and AWS Auto Scaling Groups, and so much more.
Visualizing all the data with cClear
With all this network performance comes ever more information arriving faster and faster. It creates new problems for network ops or security ops leader like you to process and understand everything every minute of every day faster with a few less team members than you would like.
So, the number of available tools to help you solve exactly this problem are almost as numerous as predictions for the future but are they solving the real issue?
cPacket rolled out new hardware and software to deliver on these growing demands from our customers, including the cClear E hardware and the latest software release, which was rolled out in December, cClear v24.2.0. When combined, you can take all the data from both physical and virtual appliances to create clear, user-friendly dashboards using either the core integrated Observability workflows or through customer created dashboards, making all the data visible to admins like you! Check out our cClear v24.2.0 Observability dashboards and workflows video to learn more.
Conclusion
In conclusion, 2024 was a significant year for network observability, with significant advancements in technology and a heightened focus on performance, reliability, and scalability across hybrid, multi-cloud, and edge environments. cPacket rose to the challenge by delivering groundbreaking innovations, including the industry’s first sustained 200Gbps packet capture appliance and its inaugural 400G packet broker, ensuring customers are equipped for today’s demands and tomorrow’s growth. With its expanding portfolio of cloud-native solutions and Marketplace integrations, cPacket continues to empower NetOps and SecOps teams with precise, high-performance tools that simplify network management and enhance decision-making. Part 1: AI for Network Observability
cPacket leads the way in leveraging AIML to provide meaningful actionable insights for the NetOps engineers. With the increased complexity of the networks, and the challenges to hire and train network experts, NetOps teams are looking for the “easy button” to identify, and root cause issues before they impact their users. We use our experience in creating and interpreting packet data to create simple text-based insights for network operation engineers that can point them to the problem and its root cause, sifting through billions of sessions metrics every day.
Presented by: Norman Bright, Ron Nevo
Part 2: Network Observability for AI
cPacket began its network observability journey with electronic trading systems and their unique challenges of microbursts. Today we’re seeing the same challenges with microbursts, and low latency with the massive AIML clusters built around the world. cPacket uses our unique IP and works with our customers and partners to deliver the solutions that allow them to analyze microbursts and low-latency issues at scale within the AIML clusters.
